How to choose the right room

Match the market

EMA serves compliance and environmental certificate markets; Carbon Forward and the North America Climate Summit cover a broader mix. Qualify whether your target buys allowances, voluntary credits or project financing before selecting a pass.

Check procurement access

An advertised buyer workshop can have its own eligibility and registration. Ask whether sellers can attend, whether meetings are opt-in, and whether the full conference pass includes the session.

Plan around overlapping dates

Use main conference dates and optional workshop notes below to compare travel. Similar dates do not mean co-located events share admission; reserve enough time for meetings outside the program.

Voluntary carbon market conferences: check buyer access

Voluntary carbon market (VCM) procurement is distinct from compliance allowance trading. Corporate buyers may use dedicated or restricted sessions: admission to a conference does not establish access to those sessions or an interest in buying your credits. Check eligibility with the organizer, confirm the buyer’s procurement remit, and use removal-specific events when your offer needs a durable carbon removal conversation.

Carbon Markets Africa Summit (CMAS) 2026

Tickets

$500-1,500

Kigali, Rwanda · Africa · Oct 14-15, 2026

A Kigali summit pairing African carbon-market policymakers with development capital, built around curated deal rooms and investor roundtables rather than an expo floor. Most of the demand side is development finance rather than corporate offtakers, so it suits developers and Article 6/MRV advisors more than credit sellers chasing retirement volume.

Who's thereSupply-heavy, about 10% demand side by the organizer's own targets (50+ investors, buyers, and financiers of 500+). Demand is mostly capital (AfDB, UNDP, DBSA, FSD Africa, funds) rather than corporate offtake; GenZero's CEO is the clearest large-cheque buyer on the roster. Senior African policy density is unmatched: ministers, REMA, Kenya's climate envoy, DG CLIMA, IETA, and Verra.

TicketsPrivate summit ZAR 14,090 / organizer-listed USD 940; public/academia/NGO ZAR 10,750 / USD 720. Preconference ZAR 6,260 / USD 420; recordings ZAR 5,000 / USD 350. Buy four, receive five.

Optional datesOctober 13: separately priced preconference; summit is October 14–15.

Access & notesSummit includes October 13 icebreaker and October 14 welcome drinks. Dialogue requires invitation/approval; programme has closed roundtables and deal rooms. Recordings exclude labs and closed sessions. Tax treatment not established. Other checkout prices have unconfirmed eligibility; ask the organizer which rate applies to you. Detailed deal-room eligibility and historical audience ratios not freshly confirmed.

Room: 330+ actual at the 2025 inaugural summit in Johannesburg; 500+ target for 2026. The published '77 speakers' figure mirrors the 2025 actual, so treat it skeptically.

Go if You're an African-asset developer near issuance and apply early for a Deal Room slot, need capital or Article 6 authorization rather than offtake, or sell MRV or policy advisory to African governments and DFI programs.

Skip if You need North American or European corporate offtake demand, your project is outside Africa, or you'd attend without applying to the curated tracks; the general badge does not open them.

Worth knowing: Summit includes October 13 icebreaker and October 14 welcome drinks. Dialogue requires invitation/approval; programme has closed roundtables and deal rooms. Recordings exclude labs and closed sessions. Tax treatment not established. Other checkout prices have unconfirmed eligibility; ask the organizer which rate applies to you.
